Following the lifting of the government’s declaration of a state of emergency, JR West expects to see an increase in rail use, especially by commuters.

From today for one month, JR West has decided to sell discounted limited express tickets for some “limited express” trains.

For example, if you want to travel from Kyoto Station to Osaka Station in a reserved seat on a limited express train, you can buy a limited express ticket for 300 yen, instead of the usual one-way ticket of 1,190 yen.

This offer is available on some “limited express” services such as “Haruka”, “Thunderbird” and “Super Hakuto” that operate during weekday commuting hours.

Passengers with commuter passes can use these trains (by paying the additional reservation fee).

They are accepting reservations for reserved seats to an upper limit 50% of the capacity.

These measures are intended to reduce crowded on commuter trains by shifting some of the passengers to express trains.

West Japan Railway Co., Ltd. Will monitor the congestion situation and consider whether or not it will continue to extend the scheme into July and beyond.
