Japan covid-related topics in NHK’s 7am news bulletin today:
Nothing specifically covid-related in the morning headlines but I picked up the numbers from last night’s bulletin and a couple of other talking points.
KDDI was still having problems as of this morning as the show began but towards the end, they relayed a report that data transfer was “mostly” back online.
Typhoon, electioneering, Kumamoto flood recovery, and a special piece on a woman able to speak for the first time in 20 years using a medical device.

On the election trail, Kishida was talking up government readiness in the case of a resurgence, and is pointing out here that over 60% of the population is third jabbed, including 90% of old people – one of the best performances in the G7.

It’s raining across much of the eastern (southern?) seaboard today, and the typhoon is expected to make land in Kyushu tomorrow bringing heavy rain.
