Japan covid-related topics in NHK’s 7am news bulletin today:
Today’s 7am and yesterday’s 9pm bulletin appear to have been covid-free.
But both looked at the rise of Monkey Pox.


[Meanwhile, overseas’ outlets are pointing up resurgences in cases led by covid variants B.4 and B.5, which are apparently still easy to catch even if you have been vaccinated or had covid before. Vaccination continues to prevent you developing serious symptoms though.]

No new daily case records (probably).

Nowhere in single figures

Tokyo on 2413 [vs. 1819 same day last week, quite a bit up]
Osaka on 1248 [vs. 1213 same day last week; Osaka up too]
[Yesterday, I noticed that the weekly average vs. the previous week was also up]

The number of positives at immigration testing was 12
[Border testing was relaxed even as the number of people being allowed into the country has doubled from June 01.]

The total of current active serious cases stands at 38, up 2 vs. the previous day.

15 deaths announced yesterday, for a total of 31106

Total recorded cases at 9210751
Recovered cases at 9023091 (around 16,000 recovered cases up from the previous day)

Total active cases are at 156,554 (up around 600 vs the previous day).
Percentage of active cases as a percentage of the grand total of cases is 1.69%.
