20200708 (Wednesday) Coronavirus Digest from Japanese Morning TV News Part 1 (of probably 1): Main News

Unsurprisingly, corona news took a back seat today on most channels.
There isn’t a lot of news on the covid-front in Japan anyway.
I have just pulled up the numbers from the NHK website again.
And I will include a couple of news stories in the comments below.

In world news, the Brazilian president has tested positive for Covid19 but is shrugging it off.
And apparently the US has officially declared its intention to leave the WHO.

211 new cases yesterday which brings the total cases this year in Japan to over 20,000 (20,209) [or the equivalent of a weekend in Florida]
17197 cases have already been discharged
[However, discharged cases as a % of total cases has slipped down this week from 89% to 85%, as in the number of active cases as a percentage of total cases is on the rise, albeit slightly.]
106 in Tokyo
27 in Saitama
8 in Kanagawa
11 in Chiba

12 in Osaka
9 in Kyoto
2 in Nara

7 in Fukuoka
9 in Kagoshima

Another 5 in quarantine after coming back from overseas.

1 in Hyogo yesterday, but I read that 3 of the four cases from the day before were in Kobe and involved doctors, etc. from the Shinko hospital – the one next to the railway lines between Nada and Sannomiya.

106 new cases in Tokyo.
This is their 6th day of over 100 cases.
70 (66%) of these are in their 20s and 30s
47 cases were of unknown origin.
22 of the cases were asymptomatic and none of the cases were serious.
